Last week Thursday, we proudly unveiled the Second Money Laundering (ML) and Terrorism Financing (TF) National Risk Assessment (NRA) Report for Uganda. The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED); - Hon Matia Kasaija officially launched the Money Laundering & Terrorism Financing National Risk Assessment (NRA) Report, 2023 for Uganda on August 10th, 2023 at Serena Hotel Kampala .
1. National Risk Assessment (NRA) 2023
Uganda conducted its second National Risk Assessment (NRA) of her money laundering (ML) and terrorist financing (TF) risks. It covers the period 2017 to 2020 for Money Laundering (ML) and the period ending December 2021 for Terrorism/Terrorism financing. The purpose of the NRA is to identify, assess, and understand the money laundering and terrorist financing risks for the country, as required by Financial Action Taskforce (FATF) Recommendation 1.
The regional meeting was held from 19th to 20th July, 2023 in Lira District. The meeting focused on enhancing the understanding of the District NGO Monitoring Committees and the key stakeholders about their roles and responsibilities. The Financial Intelligence Authority participated and presented on issues regarding Money laundering, Terrorism Financing, Proliferation Financing and their compliance obligations in related to ML/TF/PF.
